ADVICE AND INFORMATION BEFORE TRAVELLING TO CHILE
This fact sheet brings together advice and reminders on the regulations, issued by the various institutional services with expertise in the field.
DOCUMENTS

Nationals of many countries, including European countries, the United States, Canada and Australia, can enter Chile without a visa for a tourist or business stay of up to 90 days. For longer stays, specific visas are required.
Take a copy of your passport with you and leave one at home.
Send a scanned copy of your passport to your own e-mail address.
HEALTH

No vaccinations are required. It is recommended to be up-to-date with vaccinations: diphtheria, tetanus, polio, whooping cough, and hepatitis B. For children: measles-mumps-rubella (MMR).
For Easter Island, yellow fever vaccination may be required if you are coming from an endemic region.
MONEY

The official currency is the Chilean Peso. We recommend bringing:
✅ A bank card with which you can withdraw local money from an ATM (maximum €300 per withdrawal).
✅ Some cash that you can exchange at a currency exchange agency (avoid airports and hotels).
Currency exchange offices are closed on Saturdays and Sundays.
In isolated areas or at markets, bring sufficient cash.

HOTEL RANKINGS IN CHILE

The hotels we choose must meet certain criteria. We also select them after visiting them, and we return regularly. They also have a ranking system equivalent to the French classification and its stars.
Budget Hotel – 2 stars +.
The hotel meets a minimum standard: a private bathroom, a pleasant welcome, and a 24-hour reception.
Good Hotel – 3 stars.
The rooms are larger. There's a style and standard that you won't find in the previous category.
Very Good Hotel – 4 stars.
There are additional amenities compared to the previous category: a restaurant, but sometimes also a swimming pool, a jacuzzi, etc.
Luxury Hotel – 5 stars.
In addition to the size of the rooms and additional amenities, the hotel staff takes great care of guests throughout their stay.
